AHAG showcase (2025)

On 19 January 2025 the Auckland Historical Apartment Group (AHAG) launched its showcase series of talks at tours at Marino Gardens.
The day began with a set of informative talks. Eric Laurenson, Chair of the Epsom and Eden District Historical Society, spoke of developments along Mount Eden Road at the time. Jane Aimer of Scarlet Architecture, the granddaughter of Marino Gardens architect Kenneth Aimer, reflected on his time of increasing local professionalism post-WWI. Rachel Bell introduced the work of the Fletcher Trust Archives, and highlighted it's value as a resource for building and construction histories. Designer and historian Edward Bennet discussed to variety of international influences that went into many New Zealand buildings of the period.
Edward Bennet lead a tour of the grounds, as well as the interior of one of the units. The day was well attended by AHAG members as well as Marino Gardens owners and residents, and included refreshments and coffee by the pool.
